Harmers are located in Chiswick, West London, were our clients are able to view and or buy at auction in relaxed but efficient surroundings. (Harmers are one of the very few auction houses to offer refreshments). Our frequent sales offer the opportunity to buy from our general or specialised catalogues. We pride ourselves on our accurate, detailed descriptions and the extensive use of good quality colour photo plates.
For those unable to attend the auction in person we offer the following:
We can execute postal bids on your behalf or you can bid live by telephone. Alternatively we can supply a list of auction agents who will bid on your behalf (please note the agents make a charge for their services).

Bidding
Bids from clients unknown to us can only be accepted if accompanied by a deposit of 25% of total value of the bids. Trade and credit references are required to establish a credit rating. Please allow up to seven working days for processing.
Our bidding advances are normally by the following steps:

Bids of an unusual amount (e.g. £105) are reduced to the appropriate level (e.g. £100) and do not take precedence over a similar bid unless received first. Any bids at less than 85% of the printed estimate will be respectfully declined.
Buyers Premium
A buyer's premium will be added to the 'hammer' price of each lot. All bids will be considered as exclusive of the buyers premium.

Payment by Credit Card
This is subject to an additional charge - presently 2% - on the total sum invoiced. We can now accept payment for auction or private treaty purchases by means of the following credit cards: Visa, Mastercard and Eurocard. When paying by credit card please provide the card number, expiry date, the card security code (last three numbers found on the signature strip) and full address as it appears on the card statement. We regret we do not accept American Express and Diners Club cards.
Please note: Debit cards are not subject to the 2% additional charge.
Regulations for V.A.T.
1) All lots with no asterisk (*) before the lot number are only subject to V.A.T. at 17.5% on the Buyers premium and Postage/Packing/Lot protection for E.U. buyers.
2) All lots with one asterisk (*) before the lot number are subject to V.A.T. at 17.5% on the Hammer Price as well as Buyers premium and Postage/Packing/Lot protection for E.U. buyers. V.A.T. is payable only on Buyers premium if lots are to be exported outside of the European Union.
3) On lots marked (**) before the lot number V.A.T. is charged at 5% on the Hammer Price and at 17.5% on Buyers Premium and Postage/Packing/Lot protection for E.U. buyers. For clients outside the E.U. no V.A.T. is payable.
4) On lots marked X before the lot number V.A.T. is charged at 17.5% on the difference between the Hammer price and the face value (if hammer price exceeds face value) for both E.U. and non E.U. buyers. Also V.A.T. is payable on Buyers premium and Postage/Packing/Lot protection for E.U. buyers and on Buyers premium only when lots exported outside of the E.U.
