1862 "CLEOPATRA" SHIP-WRECK, semi-annual accounting for the Protestant Episcopal Missions in Liberia, written at Cape Palmas, sent to London and part of the mail recovered from shipwreck and, as the cover had perished, the account is struck with superb "SAVED-FROM-THE-WRECK/OF-THE-CLEOPATRA" handstamp. The "Cleopatra" was wrecked four days after this accounting was written, at the mouth of the Shebar river separating Sierra Leone from Liberia. One of two known mail items salvaged from this wreck.
