1848 (April 26) entire letter from the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Transfer Office in Manchester, to London, bearing a successful postal fraud in the form of diagonal halves of two different 1841 1ds. affixed to appear as a complete stamp, this was not noticed by the Post Office and is tied by Manchester "498" numeral cancellation. The cover is accompanied by some interesting details relating to postal fraud, fine, most unusual and very rare. Note: As this was sent from a commercial office, it may be assumed that an employee was looking for such opportunities and pocketing the cash.
