STN" c.d.s. on front, addressed to Oatlands, the contents being a "Registration of Births and Deaths" declaration relating to the birth of a daughter to a local railway employee, countersigned by the local postmaster, a detailed map (photocopy) of the railway line accompanies the lot, fine and scarce  (Photo Plate 30)

Mixed Franking with South Australia: 1909 envelope endorsed "per S.S. Zeiten" addressed to Colombo franked Victoria 9d. (uncancelled), alongside South Australia 2d. horizontal strip of four tied by Adelaide datestamps of Aug. 13, on reverse "RMGC" monogram and Colombo arrival c.d.s. of Aug. 28, a few small stains and the envelope opened at top and at left, otherwise fine and rare. The S.S. Zeiten was in use with the Norddeutscher Lloyd line with whom the Victorian Government had a mail contract. The 9d. left uncancelled due to the non-interchangeability of Australian States stamps prior to October 1910   (Photo Plate 30)
