Simulator:
You now have the opportunity to participate in our auctions via Real-time internet bidding, which allows you to place bids from your desk, on the train, at the airport or wherever you have internet access. You can hear and feel the buzz in the auction room and follow it as it happens. It is surprisingly easy! Why not practice the live auction system on the simulator to see how simple it is.

Harmers are delighted to offer this additional service at no charge. We have worked with our software supplier to ensure that this system is safe and secure, however we cannot guarantee against all contingencies regarding the internet or against user error.

Please note: In order to use the Real-time internet bidding system you will need to have Java software installed on your computer. You can download it free of charge from http://www.java.com. Our Real-time internet bidding system is compatible with both PC’s and Mac’s.

Register:
To participate in the auction you will need to register with us. Follow the simple steps. Once completed, we will email our confirmation and your credit limit to you. Please ensure that you register well in advance of the auction. Should you wish to increase your credit limit contact us on auctions@harmers.demon.co.uk. You only need to register with us once for all future auctions and then you can just log on about one hour before or at any time during an auction.

Bid:
Here are some tips to help you bidding:

  1. Bidding starts in the auction room and the lot will be awarded ignoring the internet unless an internet bidder has been recognised before the hammer comes down.
  2. Please click on the bid button as early as possible for your first bid as it may take a moment or two to connect via the server due to the different internet connection speeds around the world. Once your bid is relayed the auctioneer notes an internet bidder and will delay the bidding at the end giving you a chance to bid again should you wish.
  3. Before the lot is knocked down the display will show GOING GOING GONE! confirming the end of the bidding. You must get your final bid through at the moment of the display of the first GOING. Please note it is not possible to reopen the bidding once the hammer has come down.
  4. Sometimes several internet bids may be made at the same moment. The server accepts the first bid received and ignores the other bids at the same price. This explains why you may have bid but your bid has not been accepted. Please bid again immediately.
  5. Please take great care when bidding online. Should you bid on the wrong lot or place a bid over your own maximum price you will be liable to honour your bid.
