Home > Selling

For many collectors, selling via auction provides the best opportunity for reaching the highest number of potential purchasers and for realising the highest return. The Harmers auction package means that we offer the most competitive terms available coupled with the right advice on the most advantageous method of sale. The benefits include:

Commission is charged at a percentage of the hammer price of each lot sold. We offer favourable and extremely flexible commission that is always arranged with vendor prior to including material into sale

Reserves are placed at around 85% of estimated value to ensure no lot sells for less than its true worth

Advances pending sales are available at attractive rates

No lotting fees or hidden charges

No charge is made for the full colour illustration of suitable material (no other auction house matches our extensive use of colour in our catalogues - a proven boost to selling)

No sale no fee. If a lot doesn't sell there is no hidden fee and we are usually happy to re-offer it in a suitable future sale

Lot protection is charged at a modest 1.5% of the price realised

Regular advertising in national and philatelic press at home and abroad, as well as specialist society journals and magazines, ensures maximum exposure for your material

Payment is made approximately 45 working days after the date of the sale

But there's more. An auction is not the only way Harmers can sell for you

Private treaty. A useful alternative where the vendor does not wish to wait for auction or the item is of high value

Sale by tender. An appropriate solution where the item is a great rarity and the market value is difficult to determine
